Key Usage Scenarios for Logistics Freight Manager

LF setup
Setup the LF setup as shown below

Note that the LF API Token shown is only for demo/testing.  Real Tokens will be issued after the app has been purchased/paid for.

 

LF Time out is when the app will for API to respond.

Desired despatch time, is time to allow the truck to come and pick up. 30 Minutes means , at least 30 minutes will be before the truck arrives. Demo system created dummy transaction and  no truck is actually scheduled to arrive.

Other time fields are for earliest truck arrival or cut off time for the day. These are required when the truck is requested when consignment is created. System will try to request the truck on delivery dates and between the earliest and cut-off time.

Setup at least one packing item as a default packing item. The packing item must have its Length, weight, Height and weight and packing type.

LF uses cm (centimetre) as linear unit and KG (kilogram) as weight unit.

Linear and weight Unit factors are sued to convert the Length, weight, height and weight from UOM to the ones used in LF. E.g. if Length, width and height are in mm, then Linear factor will be 0.1. as shown

 

Logistics Freight From-Loc Comp ID: This is unique ID in LF for each company which is using LF across all LF customers. We will assign and provide it when the customer has ordered and paid for LF for.

Logging fields are used for troubleshooting. They may be left off. They will be used by our support team to investigate any issues with the API communications

Location

To enable a location for the LF, there are three fields

Logistic Freight enabled: Turn on to make this location use LF

Logistics Freight API Token: If the Location is having its label printer, then a token is issued to each location. Token are used to identify the label printers which print consignment labels. Otherwise token at the LF setup is used for printing to the default label printer. Leave this field blank for Demo/testing

Logistics Freight From-_Loc Company ID: This is unique ID in LF for each location which is using LF across all LF customers. We will assign and provide it when the customer has ordered and paid for LF for each location.

Shipping Agent

To enable a shipping Agent for the LF, there is one field

Logistic freight Carrier ID: Use 248 for demo. We will provide names of all carriers and their actual carrier IDs when the customer has ordered and paid for LF. Customer will also need to arrange and authorise LF to send consignment request to these carriers on customer’s behalf.

 

Pack Benches

Pack Benches can be set up for LF. Setup a pack bench as required.

Operator IDs can be used to identify which user is on which pack bench., Not mandatory.

Location Code can be used to identify, in which location is the pack bench. Not Mandatory.

LF API Token. If pack bench has its own label printer, then a token is issued to the pack bench. Token are used to identify the label printers which print consignment labels. Otherwise token at the Location or LF setup is used for printing. Leave this field blank for Demo/testing

 

Now the setup is complete, we are ready to use LF

 

Scenarios for testing

Create sales order for each scenario and ship them to see the LF creating package tracking numbers or not. Check Posted sales Shipment to confirm.

Shipment from a non-LF enabled Location

When shipping from such location, no LF consignments will be created, Demo/test Create an order from location e.g. MAIN or WEST. Use standard BC processes to ship it. It will not access LF. Nor will it insert an LF entry. Posted sales shipment will not have package tracking number.

Shipment from LF enabled Location

When shipping from such a location,

  1. When shipping agent code is blank: No LF consignments will be created,

Demo/test:

  • Create an order from location e.g. EAST but with no shipping agent
  • Use standard BC processes to ship it.
  • It will not access LF.
  • Nor will it insert a LF entry.
  • Posted sales shipment will not have package tracking number.
  1. When shipping Agent code is not blank but shipping agent is a non-LF enabled shipping agent: No LF consignments will be created,

Demo/test:

  • Create an order from location e.g. EAST but with a shipping agent other than DHL (Check Shipping Agents Page)
  • Use standard BC processes to ship it.
  • It will not access LF.
  • Nor will it insert a LF entry.
  • Posted sales shipment will not have package tracking number.
  1. When shipping Agent code is not blank and shipping agent is a LF enabled shipping agent:

Demo/test:

  • Create an order from location e.g. EAST but with shipping agent as DHL (Check Shipping Agents Page)
  • Use standard BC processes to ship it.
  • It will access LF.
  • If the post code and city combination is valid (it validates it against the AusPost Post code records), it will record the Package Tracking number on posted sales shipment. If post code and city is not valid, then Package Tracking number on posted sales shipment will not be recorded
  • It will insert a LF entry.

Summary of LF functionality.

Consignment creation during shipping

When any of the following is shipped, system may create a consignment

  1. Sales Order
  2. Service Order
  3. Transfer Order
  4. Warehouse Shipment

Logistics Freight Manager will check following information on the Order

  1. Ship-from Location

If the Ship-from Location is Logistics Freight enabled or not.

  1. Shipping Agent

If the Shipping Agent is Logistics Freight enabled or not

  1. Packing Item

If the order contains any packing Item, system will use it to create the consignment, otherwise it will use a default packing item

  1. Ship-to Post Code and Ship-to City

Order has a proper value in both ship-to Post Code and Ship-to City fields.

If all the following conditions are satisfied, a consignment will be created and recorded on the posted shipment.

  1. Ship-from Location is Logistics Freight enabled
  2. Shipping Agent is Logistics Freight enabled
  3. ship-to Post Code and Ship-to City fields have proper values

If there are no available route with the shipping Agent (carrier) on the order, system will then request the cheapest route for the consignment available from all shipping agents (carriers).

System also prints the relevant carrier labels to nominated printer.

If the email address is available for consignee, then email will also be sent to the consignee with tracking numbers.

Consignment creation after shipping

When any of the following is shipped without consignment, users may still create a consignment on the document page

  1. Posted Sales Shipment
  2. Posted Service Shipment
  3. Posted Transfer Shipment
  4. Posted Warehouse Shipment

Logistics Freight Manager will check following information on the posted Shipment

  1. Ship-from Location

If the Ship-from Location is Logistics Freight enabled or not.

  1. Shipping Agent

If the Shipping Agent is Logistics Freight enabled or not

  1. Packing Item

If the order contains any packing Item, system will use it to create the consignment, otherwise it will use a default packing item

  1. Ship-to Post Code and Ship-to City

Order has a proper value in both ship-to Post Code and Ship-to City fields.

Consignment recall after shipping

When any of the following is shipped with a consignment number, users may recall the consignment on the document page

  1. Posted Sales Shipment
  2. Posted Service Shipment
  3. Posted Transfer Shipment
  4. Posted Warehouse Shipment

A new consignment can also be created, if required.
